FAQ

How long does it take to get our photos delivered?

The delivery of your photos will depend on the type of session you booked and the season you booked. Usually, please allow around two weeks to receive access to your online gallery from our photoshoot date. Please allow for extra time during holidays and any last minute photoshoot requests.
Fall is one of my busiest times. Delays may occur, so book early to ensure you get your photos in time for those holiday cards!

What type of services do I offer?

I currently offer family, portrait, food, couples, engagements, and OUTDOOR event photography (with the exception of some baptisms). If I missed anything, please feel free to message me with your questions.

At this time, I do not offer weddings.

May I have the raw images?

I only want to present the best photos to you. Under no circumstances I do not give out my raw images. All images presented to you will be fully edited.

What is my photography style?

My photography style is a mix of light, bright, and true to color. With that being said, the time, weather, and location all play an important factor in achieving this style. I love a good traditional posed photo, but absolutely love candids.
In your session, I will ask you and your family to pose, but spend most of the time interacting with one another to capture those great candid moments.

Please note that for extended family photoshoots, the majority of the session will involve posed shots to ensure we capture all the different family combinations.

I love your photos, will mine look like that?

I love when all my galleries have a cohesive look, as it helps my clients know what to expect from their sessions. That said, factors like time, location, and outfits will influence the final outcome of your photos. If you have a specific look in mind that you admire from a previous client, please reach out! I'd be happy to discuss how we can achieve a similar aesthetic together.

Can I choose the final images or do you select them?

After our time together I will sift through all the images and pick the best ones. Mini sessions, you will get 20 images, but will have access to view the entire gallery with option to purchase extra. If you book my 1 hour session, you have access to all deliverable photos, around 50+ images. That way you have plenty to choose from so you don't feel that you have to choose between photos.

What kinds of payments do you take?

I currently accept Paypal and Venmo.

Why do you charge a travel fee?

At Gretchen Thompson Photography, I strive to provide you with the best possible photography experience, capturing moments that truly matter to you. My commitment to quality and personalized service extends beyond the lens, and that's why we have a transparent policy regarding travel fees. I believe in open communication and want you to understand the reasons behind this aspect of our pricing structure.

When I travel to a location beyond my standard coverage area, it requires additional time and resources to ensure we reach you promptly and am well-prepared for the shoot.

Every location is unique, and I want to provide you with a personalized photography experience that reflects the essence of your chosen setting. Whether it's a serene outdoor landscape or the familiarity of your own home, I adapt our approach to capture the authenticity of your surroundings. This adaptability requires careful planning and additional coordination, which the travel fee helps support.

Do I allow cancellations?

As a photographer, I don’t allow cancellations because each session is carefully planned and reserved just for you. However, I totally understand that life happens! That’s why I happily allow rescheduling (mini & full sessions only). Any deposits made can be applied to a new session date, and ensuring your investment still shines bright. Let’s create something beautiful together!

Do you take pictures on railroad tracks?

I do not take pictures on railroad tracks for several important reasons. First and foremost, safety is my top priority. Railroad tracks can be incredibly dangerous due to the risk of oncoming trains, which can travel at high speeds and often cannot stop quickly. Even when a train is not visible, it’s essential to remember that trains can approach silently, making it difficult to hear them until it’s too late.

Additionally, trespassing on railroad property is illegal and can lead to legal consequences. Railways are private property, and being on the tracks without permission poses risks not only to individuals but also to railway operations.

For these reasons, I always choose safe, suitable locations for photo sessions that ensure the well-being of everyone involved while still capturing beautiful moments. Your safety and comfort are my top priorities!
